http://www.amnesty.org

Amnesty International is a worldwide movement of people who campaign for human rights. Their work is based on careful research and on the standards agreed by the international community. They are independent of any government, political ideology, economic interest or religion.

Amnesty International mobilizes volunteer activists — people who give freely of their time and energy in solidarity with those whose rights have been abused. At the latest count, there were more than 2.2 million members, supporters and subscribers in over 150 countries and territories in every region of the world. They come from all walks of life, with widely different political and religious views, united by our determination to work for a world where everyone enjoys human rights.

EFC members donated $10.00 to this charity in November.

October 2007 Charity of the Month

KIVA - Loan that Change Lives
http://www.kiva.org

Kiva.org is a non-profit that is revolutionizing the fight against poverty by enabling people to connect with and make personal loans - of as little as $25 - to low-income entrepreneurs in the developing world. Most of the poor in developing countries are self-employed entrepreneurs and a small loan to purchase business- related items such as sewing machines or livestock can empower them to earn their way out of poverty.

EFC members donated $20.00 to this charity in October.
